Obama's Health Insurance Scheme Takes Its Revenge

Survey suggests that nearly half of the people without health insurance are unaware that they will be fined by Obama's scheme.
A majority of small businesses say the Affordable Care Act already has hurt their profits, forcing them to reduce or postpone investment, withhold raises or trim other types of benefits....
The Obama regime also plans to prevent veterans from getting faster health care through the private sector. Meanwhile in Britain, land of the death panels, in an effort to save about $122 million, the British government will stop providing multiple cancer treatments. A House of Commons study suggests that the NHS in Wales is worse than it is in England.

Texas and Tennessee Continue the Campaign Against Abortion

The Texas state senate voted 21-10 to "eliminate insurance coverage for abortion through private insurance plans and plans purchased through the federal health care exchange." The Texas state house voted 98-47 to add additional restrictions to minors seeking abortion. Tennessee became the 27th state to require a waiting period before committing abortion.

The Inefficiencies of Government Health Care

Medicare spent $35 million on powered scooters and wheeled chairs for patients who were not qualified. The story of Obama's health insurance scheme is one of inadequate coverage. Finally, people who wanted to sign up to Obama's health insurance scheme were plagued with technical glitches.

In Britain, land of the National Health Disservice (NHD), a dentist defrauded the NHD $73,000. Since 2011, there had been more than 1,600 reports of sexual abuses of hospital patients.

Obama = Best Gun Salesman

Estimate suggests that Obama provided a $9 billion boost to the firearms industry. Last December, at least 2.3 million firearms were sold, an increase of 300,000 from the preceding December. Meanwhile, the NRA's revenue jumped 36% to $348 million.

The Chaos of Obama's Health Insurance Scheme

"H&R Block, the nation’s largest retail tax preparation company" stated that no one can understand Obama's health insurance scheme. Oregon abolished its state health insurance exchange after wasting $248 million. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives voted 242-179 to ban Obama's health insurance scheme from funding abortion.

In Britain, land of the death panels, a judge declared that a hospital can withhold cancer treatment from a patient despite the wishes of the parents. 13 ambulances waited "outside the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital" on one day and patients had to wait 4 and a half hours in them.

More Restrictions on Abortion

The Texas state senate voted 21-10 to "eliminate insurance coverage for abortion through private insurance plans and plans purchased through the federal health care exchange." The House of Representatives voted 242-184 to ban most abortions after 5 months of pregnancy. Gov Bobby Jindal (R. Louisiana) is waging a fierce struggle against abortion in his state. Oklahoma passed legislation to increase the waiting period for abortion to 3 days. Florida also passed legislation to lengthen the process of committing an abortion.

The West Virginia state house voted 71-29 and the state senate voted 32-2 to pass "legislation eliminating the requirement that a person obtain a permit in order to carry a concealed gun." The Texas state senate voted 20-11 to allow handguns to be openly carried. Kansas passed legislation allowing for the concealed-carry of firearms without permits or training. Tennessee passed legislation allowing for the carry of firearms in parks. There are also proposals to allow the carry of firearms on school campuses in Florida, Nevada, Indiana, Montana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Wyoming.

New Treatment for Alzheimer's

Researchers at Standford University discovered that nerve cells die because cells which are supposed to clear the brain of bacteria, viruses and dangerous deposits, stop working.
These cells, called 'microglia' function well when people are young, but when they age, a single protein called EP2 stops them operating efficiently.
Now scientists have shown that blocking the protein allows the microglia to function normally again so they can hoover up the dangerous sticky amyloid-beta plaques which damage nerve cells in Alzheimer's disease.
The researchers found that, in mice, blocking EP2 with a drug reversed memory loss and myriad other Alzheimer’s-like features in the animals.

Government Health Care Takes Its Toll

A Vietnam veteran who waited a year for a cancer screening at a Veterans Affairs hospital died of cancer....
Meanwhile, GOP state lawmakers around the country are forming a firewall against the expansion of Obama's health insurance scheme to buy time for the law to b struck down by the courts or overturned by a new administration. In the mean time,
[Dept. of Health and Human Services] executives spent $31 million taking 7,000 first class and business class flights between 2009 and 2013, including 253 trips for which a one-way ticket cost more than $15,000.
Liberals are busily creating a new class, the government class, that reigns over all plebeians.

Meanwhile in Britain, land of the National Health Disservice (NHD), the NHD won't allow the use of Abraxane, the first pancreatic cancer drug in 20 years and one that can extend a patient's life for 2 months because it isn't cost-effective. In Britain, it's up to the government to decide whether saving a person's life is cost-effective. Finally the medical director of the NHD faces reality: Free health care for all is unsustainable.

Another Update on the Fight Against Abortion

Ohio saw induced abortions fall from 25,473 in 2012 to 23,216 in 2013 — a period when 5 of the 7 affected providers closed or curtailed services — state figures show. That was the lowest level recorded since the state began tracking the data in 1976, and part of a general downward trend that began in the late 1990s.
53 abortion restrictions were passed in 2013. The GOP planned multiple tactics to regulate abortion. Kansas banned a second-trimester abortion procedure. The South Carolina state house voted 87-20 to ban abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

The Fight Against Solar Power Continues

NAACP's Florida chapter came out to oppose solar power as they realized that "alternative energy" really means increase in energy bills which will have a more devastating impact on the poor. Expert suggests that solar power panels are largely placed in a sub-optimal direction. The Nevada solar power plant at Ivanpah killed 3,500 birds in its first year of operation. The Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project wounded 130 birds.

Improvements to Firearms Legislation Around the Country

Gov. Rick Snyder (R. Michigan) signed legislation to streamline the process of issuing permits for the concealed-carry of firearms. New Pennsylvania law makes it easier for firearms owners to challenge local firearms restrictions, forcing 22 municipalities to rescind their laws. The New Hampshire state house voted 212-150 to eliminate the need to apply for permits for the concealed-carry of firearms. The Kansas state senate voted 31-7 for the same thing. The Iowa state house voted 75-24 to "allow a child under 14 years old to use a handgun under a parent’s supervision."

The Truth Comes Out

In October, 2009, Obama's adviser Jonathan Gruber already admitted that Obama's health insurance scheme has no cost controls and will not be affordable. Enrollment in California's "healthcare program for the poor, known as Medi-Cal, has exploded by 50%" since Obama's scheme took effect. Estimate suggests that 3.4 million people who received subsidies from Obama's scheme will have to pay them back.

Meanwhile in Britain, land of the National Health Disservice (NHD):
An NHS hospital boss used an NHS credit card to spend more than £50,000 on fine dining, luxury hotels, Waitrose shopping and a trip to Greggs bakeries....
Prescription fraud is also costing the NHD $365 million/year.

A chunk of the roughly 7,000 inactive solar panels outside the Little Rock Veterans Affairs Hospital was recently dismantled to make way for a new parking garage....
3 counties in New Jersey have to pay more than $88 million due to a solar power project that flopped.

Government Health Care at Work

The Beckley, West Virginia, Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) substituted prescribed antipsychotic medications with older drugs as a cost-savings measure. The practice violated VA policy and posed a public health risk....
California's health exchange is violating the law by canceling private coverage for up to 95,000 people because they might qualify for Medi-Cal....
Meanwhile, a veteran is claiming that he is being held at the Memphis VA Medical Center against his will.

In Britain, land of the National Health Disservice (NHD), a 78-year-old woman who fell waited on her floor for 7 hours for an ambulance. Thousands of British doctors are fleeing Britain to work in another country so as to escape the NHD's bureaucracy.

Obama = Worse Than Watergate

According to 3 of 5 political measures, Obama has been more of a disaster to his party than Nixon had been for the GOP.

The Solar Power Scam

Solar power makes up only 0.6% of total power generation in the US but eats up $39 billion in government subsidies. Solar power is really nothing more than an excuse for government welfare. Solar companies in Oregon and Arizona defrauded their customers. Meanwhile, the Canadian province of Saskatchewan is investigating Solar Hydrogen Energy Corp. for questionable accounting practices.

China and Its Friends

China is developing space weapons. They will also invest $20 billion in Venezuela. That country is a basket case, so I doubt the Chinese will realize many benefits from their investment. They're also selling 8 submarines to Pakistan that may be worth $4-5 billion. Meanwhile, the Obama regime $12.3 million in foreign aid to China last year.

Thoughts on Art

Medieval and Renassiance art are not just beautiful, they are sublime. Whereas what is sublime is always beautiful, what is beautiful is not always sublime. The modern trend of rejecting religion in the quest of beauty is to degrade the quality of the human imagination. What is sublime must be transcendent, something that transcends the human experience, like a snapshot from a higher plane of existence. Whereas what is beautiful is almost touchable, comprehensible, and often inspires not a feeling of worship but rather of baser emotions such as greed. Hence modern art tends to be worthless compared to Medieval and Renaissance art. While Medieval and Renaissance art have their dark sides, such as their depictions of Hell, even those images were meant to inspire not just fear but also worship, desire for the better alternative. Whereas modern dystopian art often inspire disgust. One might say that whereas Medieval and Renaissance art uplift humanity, modern art degrades it.

"If You Think Health Care is Expensive Now, Wait Until You See What It Costs When It's Free."

Those immortal words from the great libertarian humorist P.J. O'Rourke are being proven by Obama's health insurance scheme:
Florida’s largest Obamacare exchange health insurer is boosting its premiums by 17.6 percent....
The cost of health care premiums in California also skyrocketed from 22-88%. Finally, "[m]ore than a year after the federal government issued an emergency contract and deadline to fix, the back-end of the website is still not finished." Meanwhile in Britain, land of the National Health Disservice (NHD), more and more bladder and prostate cancer patients have to wait 2 months to start treatment. The woman who played a nurse in Britain's propaganda bonanza a.k.a. 2012 London Olympics is now suing the NHS because her ectopic pregnancy was misdiagnosed, nearly killing her.

The True Cost of Wind Power

From 2008-2013 electricity prices rose an average of 20.7 percent in the top 10 wind power states, which is seven-fold higher than the national electricity price increase of merely 2.8 percent.
Wind farms also need 700 times more land than a hydraulic fracturing site to generate the same amount of power. A wind power project in Canada's Prince Edward Island was shut down after its experienced technical failures and the residents were compensated with $280,000. Finally, offshore wind power projects in the US are dying off.

The 3rd Circuit Court ruled that "Wal-Mart investors don’t have a right to try to stop the company from selling rifles or any other product those shareholders may think is socially destructive." An Oklahoma district court ruled that a locality and the operators of a festival cannot ban the carry of firearms at the "outdoor portion of the festival." A Washington DC federal district court struck down the city's "good reason" requirement for carrying firearms.

Chinese Armaments, and Responses

China's DF-41 MIRV ICBM has a range of around 6,835-7,456 mi. and may carry up to 10 warheads. Meanwhile, China's neighbors are also arming themselves. Taiwan purchased 4 Perry-class frigates from the US. Since 2008, US sold arms worth $18.3 billion, "including the F-16 A/B upgrades, 30 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and 12 P-3C Orion antisubmarine and maritime surveillance aircraft" to Taiwan. Vietnam purchased submarine-launched ground-attack Klub missiles from Russia.

Hypocrisy is in the Democratic Party's DNA

Obama's wife whined about the role of money in politics while trying to exhort more campaign contributions at a fundraiser.

The Disaster of "Wind Power"

Study suggests that wind turbines are 10 times more likely to catch on fire than previously thought. A wind turbine worth more than $3.1 million collapsed for unknown reasons in Northern Ireland. PacifiCorp Energy will pay $2.5 million in fines because their wind turbines killed more than 370 endangered and protected birds. This is a partial list of useless wind turbines installed at great expense throughout Britain. In contrast to the folly of wind turbines in US and Britain, Australia is leading the way as to how a sensible government can reduce such a waste and abuse of public funds. After the coalition government came to power, 44 wind farm projects were canceled.

Japanese Rearmament

Japan will purchase 17 V-22 Osprey aircraft from the US for $3 billion. They also signed a new defense agreements with the US and France. The Japanese legislature increased defense spending from $39.5 billion to $41 billion. They also gave Vietnam 6 patrol boats worth $5 million. In light of the pusillanimity of the Obama regime, Japan is embarking on the classic realist path to security by arming itself and crafting a system of alliances to deter China.
