The Syrian Chronicles

Opposition to Obama's rush to war against Syria continues to grow in the House of Representatives.  The latest count is 225 against and only 25 in favor.  Those in opposition include 61 Democrats.  For Obama to win the House vote, he must do the equivalent of winning all the remaining 183 undecideds, hold all of his current supporters (he just suffered a defection) and pull over 9 opponents.  Not impossible, just very unlikely.  The House should grant Obama a vote so that he can be humiliated in grand fashion, so that the world will know that there is no reason to hear anything Obama has to say, because the "Present" in Chief can't deliver.  In related news, this is the right time to remind ourselves that back in September, 2012, VP Biden was whining about the possibility that then GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney wanted to go to war against Syria.  To be fair, Democrats have often pulled this ploy.  Woodrow Wilson won his re-election in 1916 with the slogan "He Kept Us Out of War."  He recommended going to war a year later.  Franklin D. Roosevelt won his re-election in 1940 by pledging he would not send American boys to any foreign wars.
