Needed: A Serious Government Shutdown

Let me restate my preference for a serious government shutdown, not the short-term games of 1995, but a prolonged, serious shutdown that lasts for at least a year.  The GOP should demand that Democrats comply in repealing Obama's health insurance law.  If they fail to do so, the GOP should offer new budget bills that cut welfare programs such as food stamps, SCHIP, and Medicaid by 5% every week until the Democrats comply with all of the GOP's demands.  Make it clear that the longer the Democrats prolong the shutdown, the more welfare programs will be cut.

After all, we're talking about a criminal regime that gave the liberal group ACORN's affiliates a housing grant despite being banned from doing so by federal law.  We're talking about a welfare state that pays more than $15/hour in 13 statesThe Government Accountability Office reported that 36,000 people were wrongly given disability benefits for 3 years.  So don't tell me there is no room for welfare cuts.  Finally, "[t]he number of homes with an unemployed parent rose by a third in just six years."
