German Minister Invites Trade War

The German justice minister suggested "new EU rules on data protection and a ban on American companies that violate them." This can be easily countered with an US law requiring companies to cooperate with government requests for information and bans on European companies that violate them. Since Germany enjoys a large trade surplus with the US, the country that will suffer most from this type of conflict is Germany.
